Lab-X Foundation in collaboration IEEE Consumer Electronics Society invites engineering graduate and undergraduate students to submit their entries poster & prototype exhibit to be held during the event IoT Symposium. It is a unique opportunity for engineering students to demonstrate their research, projects or business ideas to a community of world renowned industry experts, faculty and professionals in addition to fellow students in the Internet of Things (IoT) domain. Participate and win exciting CASH prizes!

Topics of interest for submission include, but are not limited to:
1. IoT in home automation
2. IoT as a medium of societal benefits - applications in healthcare, smart water and irrigation systems, flood warning and monitoring
3. IoT and smart cities
4. IoT and intelligent transportation system

The submission should be a (Maximum) two page PDF with an abstract, introduction to the project, methods followed (including any framework/architectural design), hardware and software tools used, algorithms, performance evaluation and conclusion.

Selection process :
A committee of IoT experts will review all the abstract entries and select twenty poster/prototype presenters for the event. Each entry can comprise of teams of upto 5 members. To participate in the competition, every team member who wishes to be present at the event must pay the registration cost of Rs.999 (or Rs.899 for IEEE members). Each entry must have atleast one member who will be present at the event to present their poster/prototype.

Prizes:
1st prize of 10,000 INR | 2nd prize of 5,000 INR | Two runners up prizes of 2500 INR each.

ABSTRACT GUIDELINES:
The title, author(s) names, and departmental affiliation should be centered at the top. In addition to abstract, please mention if your research idea/project was published in any reputed journal/conference or has received any awards. These may give bonus points to your abstract. If your project has a working prototype, you will may get additional bonus points.

Poster Guidelines:
Each poster should be staffed with at least one author to explain the research to judges and visitors. Posters should be legible from a distance of beyond 6 feet so that they can be viewed by a number of people at the same time. The entire poster must be mounted on a 40″ x 60″ foam-core board, in landscape position.

Title :- Rapid Development of an M2M gateway for Internet of Things

Description :- According to industry estimates, 30-50 Billions of things (sensors, actuators, RFID/NFC tags) will be connected to the Internet by 2020. Many such devices will be constrained in terms of memory, processing power and battery making them unable to directly connect to the Internet. Such devices are connected to an M2M gateway that provides protocol translation and allows them to exchange data over the Internet.

This hands-on session will focus on rapid development of the software for the M2M gateway. The functionalities of the gateway will be exposed using RESTful web services. An Android application will be provided to test the functionalities of the gateway.

Application :- Such M2M gateway play an important role in consumer IoT market. The gateways are deployed in smart home domains to discover available things, automatically manage them and exchange sensor data.

Software tools :- Python 2.7 and SQLite will be used during the prototyping session. A Linux based computer is preferred for the training. If you have Windows OS, you should install a virtual machine running Linux. Then install the required software tools.
